Ed Hodgkinson, based in London, has been exhibited Worldwide, shows include Reykjavik, NYC and Capetown. His work takes the qualities found in line drawing – spontaneity, simplicity, abbreviation & experiment, and incorporates them directly into his painting.
Ed's paintings are strikingly graphic. Using a pared down but powerfully descriptive line against a backdrop of flat colour his work is fundamentally concerned with drawing. He takes the qualities found in line drawing - spontaneity, simplicity, abbreviation & experiment, and incorporates them directly into his painting. The drawn line is like a stream of consciousness, or as Erika Naginski descibes it ‘...an activity that exemplifies an imagination in flux’.
The artist joined us in a snowy December to show a selection of work from his incredibly beautiful ‘Editions’ series. Large bold colourful prints adorned the Scarlett walls, providing a much needed creative kick in the Swedish Winter. The ‘editions’ series has proved very popular, several now unavailable, making them extremely collectable too!
Of course all remaining ‘editions’ can be ordered ‘bespoke’ from us, so take a look in the art store for more details.
